History of the Company
Wm. C. Jackson & Co. Pty. Ltd., was founded in 1921 by the late William C. Jackson to service the growing Australian manufacturing industries in sewing, knitting, textile machinery and spare parts. We pride ourselves to this day on our service to the industry and our many valued customers, with a full range of machinery, spare parts and accessories. We also have our branch office in N.S.W.
The Company opened its doors for business in Flinders Street, Melbourne moving to the present location in Victoria Parade, Collingwood, in 1969.
The Company is wholly Australian owned and operated as a family business.
The management has passed through three generations of the Jackson family since its foundation. William C. Jackson’s son Frank M. Jackson headed the company for many years and the current Managing Director is Mr. Peter Jackson, Frank’s son and the grandson of William.
Many members of the Jackson family have been actively involved in the company since its beginnings in 1921 and continue to be so in 2007.
The Company has moved with the times continually keeping up to date with technology in the sewing, knitting and textile industries.
To diversify and better serve the domestic market, the Sewparts division was acquired in 1983. Sewparts wholesales to retailers in the domestic sewing machine, haberdashery and craft industries, as well as to manufacturers.
In December 2006, Wm.C.Jackson & Company Pty.Ltd., acquired the stock and agencies from Chemtex, together with the expertise of Mr. Charlie Bowman and Mr. Carl Ellul, which enables us to expand our supply and service to our existing and new customers in the Textile area.
